Loraine Sharp Hamby, age 99 of Dayton, passed away early Sunday morning, August 31, 2025, at an assisted living facility in Ringgold, GA. She was born in Rockwood on August 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Aaron and Frances (Graham) Sharp and was also preceded in death by her husband Clyde Hamby.
Loraine lived most of her life in Dayton where she was employed with Robinson Manufacturing and then as the office book keeper for Dr. J.J. Rodgers. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, gardening and puzzles. Loraine was a longtime member of the Spivey Memorial United Methodist Church, and until May of this year, Loraine was able to live alone in her home in Dayton.
She is survived by her two great-nieces, Beverly Suttles of Dayton and Kim (Tommy) Cabe of Chickamauga, GA, and her great-nephew Rev. Randy (Gail) Lewis of Rossville, GA. Also surviving Loraine are her great-great nephew, Jeff Lewis of Ringgold, GA; her three great-great nieces, Leeann (Rich) Parker of Marietta, GA, Ashten (Owen) Wright of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, and Sabrina (Easton) Porter of Ringgold, GA; and numerous great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Loraine will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her great-nephew, Rev. Randy Lewis officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Clyde in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton.
