Lona Thomas, age 92 of Sale Creek went to be with her Lord Sunday afternoon, October 26, 2008 at a Soddy-Daisy nursing home. She was born in Mayking, KY on November 26, 1915 the daughter of the late Joseph and Betsy (Adams) Craft. She was also preceded in death by her husband Arthur Thomas.
Lona was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing and reading her bible. She was the oldest member of the Sale Creek Church of God.
She is survived by her three daughters, Wilma Gregory, Brenda (Johnny) Poe and Nyoka (Elmer) Yearwood all of Sale Creek, four sons, Rev. Orville (Sudie) Thomas of Tiptonville, Troy (Gracie) Thomas and Don (Alvarena) Thomas both of Sale Creek and Rev. Arthur (Lucy) Thomas of South Pittsburg, two sisters, Nancy (Charles) Walton of IN, Vaudrey Holbrook of Mayking, KY, three brothers, Clabe Craft and Curtis Craft both of KY, Ben Craft of OH, seventeen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Lona will be held Wednesday at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Kenneth Bolton and Rev. Dennis Goins officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Tuesday from 3:00pm until 8:00pm.
