Levere Douglas Elsea, age 81 of Sale Creek passed away Wednesday evening at the Life Care Center of Rhea County. He was born in Sale Creek on August 6, 1928 the son of the late Paul Levere Elsea and Delanie Missouri (Aslinger) Elsea. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Vaughn Elsea.
Levere was a life long resident of Sale Creek where he farmed. He retired from Dixie Yarns as an oiler and was a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Sale Creek. As a past time, he enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen (Hinkle) Elsea of Sale Creek, two sons, Stanley Elsea of Sale Creek and Larry (Linda) Elsea of Graysville, two sisters, Louella (Ralph) Hixson and Frances (Clayton) Rothwell both of Sale Creek, two granddaughters, Kelly Barnes and Frances Elsea and one great-granddaughter, Ariel Sluder all of Graysville.
Funeral services for Levere will be held Friday evening at 7:00pm with Rev. Emory Layne and Rev. David Cunningham officiating. A family graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00am in Rhea Memory Gardens.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Friday after 11:00am.
