Leonard Luther Mackney, age 80 of Readyville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Murfreesboro, TN. He was born in Crocker, MO, on October 26, 1945, the son of the late Clarence Everette and Bertha (Woody) Mackney. Leonard was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Dale (Pendergrass) Mackney.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, he served in the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his son, Leonard (Missy) Luther Mackney, Jr. of Readyville, TN; his two grandchildren, Elizabeth Annette Merritt, and Brittany Nicole (Jeremiah) Anderson; and his six great-grandchildren, Britt Mason, John Kluver, Dawson Kluver, Leon Mansfield, Kye Mansfield, and Sophiya Mansfield.

Funeral services with full military honors for Leonard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Leonard’s burial will follow at Welsh Rogers Cemetery in Sale Creek.
