Leola Hicks, age 85 of Dayton, died Tuesday morning, December 14, 2010 at her home. She was born January 19, 1925 in Rhea County, the daughter of the late John and Affie (Stinnett) Gravett. She was also preceded in death by her husband Theo E. “Buddy” Hicks,
A lifelong resident of Dayton, Leola was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her four daughters Wilma Bryant, Cecile Hicks and Linda Brooks, all of Dayton and Janice Wheeler of Hixson, brothers Frank Gravett and Paul Gravett and sister Lenora Brooks all of Dayton, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Leola will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wayne Mullins officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Buttram Cemetery.
