Lela Letha (McDaniel) Rothwell age 91 of Dayton, died Saturday evening
at Memorial Northpark Hospital in Chattanooga. Lela was born in Bledsoe County on December 3, 1914 the daughter of the late John and Flora (Pierce) McDaniel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ed Rothwell, brothers, Creed, Roy, Ivory and Dewey McDaniel, sister, Dora Henderson and her grandson, Charles Edwin Rothwell.
Lela lived most of her life in Rhea County and was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church where her son is the pastor.
Lela is survived by her four children, Dr. Roger (Maxine) Rothwell of Evensville, Charles (Shirley) Rothwell of Spring City, Wilma (Bryant) Hayworth of Morristown, Charlotte (Wildie) Brown of Dayton; five grandchildren, Cindy (Bobby) Doss and Karen (Todd) McSpadden both of Dayton, Keith (Vicki) Hayworth of Hickory Valley, Tim (Nikki) Rothwell of Cleveland , Letha Hayworth of Morristown, five great-grandchildren, grand-daughter-in-law, JoAnn Rothwell of Grandview and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lela will be held Tuesday morning at 11am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Everett Powers officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband in the Spring City Memorial Gardens.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Monday 4-8pm.
