Lee Burnice Hays, age 83, of Evensville died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Spring City Health Care Center. He was born January 7, 1927 in Sunbright, TN to the late Walter and Bertha (York) Hays. He was also preceded in death by his wife Wanda (Roberts) Hays, sister Maxine Hammons, brother Paul Hays, brother-in-law Albert Hammons, son Ivo Hays and grandson Ivo Hays, Jr.
Lee lived on Evensville mountain since 1945 where he was a farmer and helped his father drill wells. He was an avid rabbit hunter and his hobby and passion was training beagle dogs. He was a member of the Evensville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son David (Lee Ann) Hays, daughters Robbie (Lige) Russell and Nancy (Ed) Dunn, sister Glenda (Harley) Pelfrey all of Evensville, grandchildren Mark Russell of Chattanooga, TN, Adam Russell of Dayton, Chad Hays, Brad (Jessica) Hays, Morgan (Tripp) Gelger all of Spring City, Daniel Sneed of Dayton, James Dunn, II of Ft. Benning, GA and Jamie Dunn of Evensville, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lee will be held Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Von Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the Spring City Memorial Gardens on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
