Larry Dean Stoecker, age 82 of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton. He was born on his family farm in Oakley, KS, on May 15, 1939, the son of the late August Stoecker and Irene (Vollbracht) Stoecker.
Larry lived in Kansas most of his life; in Indianapolis, IN, for ten years; and in Dayton since 2010. He received a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College and a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Arkansas. He was employed as a math teacher and loved coaching track. He also coached basketball and football while he lived in Kansas. He was also a farmer and a member of the NRA. He and his wife attended Grace Bible Church in Dayton.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce (Daniels) Stoecker of Dayton; his two daughters, Sherri (Travis) Ricketts of Dayton and Kristin (Rich) Elliott of Indianapolis, IN; his son, Steve (Stephanie) Stoecker of Lenoir City; his five grandchildren, Joel Elliott, Colston Stoecker, Stephen Ricketts, Jonathan Ricketts, and Madison Ricketts; and a great-grandson expected in March 2022.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Larry on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Bible Church in Dayton with Rev. Jim Woychuk officiating.
