Kenneth Arnold Hasting

February 10, 1945 — October 31, 2023

Kenneth Arnold Hasting passed away at his home on October 31, 2023. He was born to Mary Jeannette Baeder Hasting and Jerry Carter Hasting on February 10, 1945, in Oak Ridge, TN.

He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1963 and served our country in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966 and remained a true patriot all his life. After his service he started college at East Tennessee State University where he met Linda Coulter. They were married in 1967 in Maryville, TN, and together they had three children: Melinda, Robert, and Scott. In 1976 he married Ann Ballard in Knoxville, TN, and they lived in Lenoir City, TN, where they had two children: Chet and Allison. In 1990 they moved to Aiken, SC, until 1998 when they moved back to Tennessee.

Ken was a hard working man and had a long and successful career in welding engineering and construction project management with TVA and Bechtel. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children and had high expectations for them. He was a true family man, loving his children and guiding them to be as good as they could be. He was proud of each one with their unique and strong strengths, always praising their many accomplishments. He was also so very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, bragging about them to anyone who would listen. Ken was a true and loyal friend to so many people. He often was the organizer of gatherings with old friends where so many good memories were made. He gained respect from all who worked with him because he valued each and every position, considering each one an integral part of his team. He loved working on and collecting old cars with an uncanny ability to identify make and model of cars from a distance.

In his younger years he was an avid dirt bike rider and taught his boys how to ride on trails. He loved boating, waterskiing, golf, and working on the farm. He was strong and vibrant and always busy before circumstances of health became an issue.

Ken leaves behind his wife Ann of 47 years; his children Missi (John) Baker of Portland, OR; Robert (Marjorie) Hasting of Maryville, TN; Scott (Lori) Hasting of Aiken, SC; Chet (Jessica) Hasting of Columbia, SC; and Allison Snyder of Charlotte, NC; Grandchildren: Isaac Wheatley, Amanda Montgomery, Troy Wheatley, Charlie Hasting, Rachel Hasting, Jake Hasting, Brenna McCormick, Lanie Kirkland, Chase Kendrick, Hendrix Hasting, Mason Snyder, and Anna Snyder. Great grandchildren: Destiny Wheatley, Joel Olayo, Karla Olayo, Watts Wheatley, Asher Wheatley, Boris Grossman, Naomi Montgomery, Margaret McCormick, and Marcus McCormick, plus nieces, nephews, and dear friends he referred to as part of the family. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy lives on in all who knew him well.
