Kenneth Roy Morgan, age 90 of Dayton went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday morning, July 23, 2011 with his daughter at his side. Ken was born in Rhea County on May 5, 1921 the son of the late Thomas Mack Morgan and Ida Jane (Roddy) Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Jo (Abel) Morgan.
Ken served his country with the US Army during WWII serving as a Sgt. in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. He was a life-long resident of Rhea County and retired from Robinson Manufacturing after 38 years. Ken was a member of Gideon International since 1953, was a boy scout leader during the 1950’s, member of the Dayton Rotary Club, American Legion, and a member of the Dayton First United Methodist Church since 1947 where he had served as a lay leader and youth leader.
Ken is survived by his wife Rachel (Ross) Morgan of Dayton, his daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” (Charles) Lewis of Mechanicsville, VA, son, K.D. Morgan of Knoxville, his brother, Thomas (Nancy) Morgan of Chattanooga, two grandchildren, Steven (Kristen) Lewis of Chapel Hill, NC and Joanna Lewis of Mechanicsville, VA and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ken will be held Monday evening at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with his pastor, Rev. Kenneth Pierce officiating. Military honors will follow. A graveside service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00am in Buttram Cemetery where Ken will be laid to rest next to his first wife Emily Jo.
