Katie Jane Michaels, age 79, of Frostbite, Spring City, and Bledsoe County passed away early Thursday morning, May 27, 2021, at her home. She was born in Medulla, FL, on August 13, 1941, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Pollock and Cora Alene (McKay) Pollock. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Kymberly Ann Spears; her two brothers, Ben Pollock and Johnny Pollock; and her three sisters, Joyce, Alene, and Esie.
She graduated from nursing school as an LPN and was employed as an LPN in Lakeland, FL, and at the Rhea County Nursing Home in Dayton. She lived in Bledsoe County for the last thirty-two years after moving from Plant City, FL. She enjoyed making crafts and cross stitching and was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, William “Bill” Russell Michaels; her two daughters, Sandy (Tracy) Thurman of Spring City and Jody (Robby) Abercrombie of Winter Haven, FL; her son, Robbie (Angie) Michaels of Lake Wells, FL; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Katie will be held on Monday, May 31, 2021, at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jewell officiating. She will be laid to rest in Summer City Cemetery followed by a white dove release.
