Kathlene “Gran” Hendon, age 86 of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at her daughter’s home. She was born in Hamilton County on June 23, 1935, the daughter of the late Finley and Lula (Land) Harvey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Lee Hendon; her sisters, Dorothy Brown and Ellen Miller; and her brother, Leonard Harvey.
Kathlene lived in the Brayton Community most of her life before moving to Dayton 18 years ago to live with her daughter. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, gardening, and watching westerns.
She is survived by her three daughters, Beth (Dale) Henderson and Bonnie Kaplan, both of Dayton and Mary (Jeff) Mikel of Sale Creek; her two sons, Danny (Darlene) Hendon and Tim Hendon, both of Brayton Mountain; her two sisters, Lena (Donnie) Ottinger of Sale Creek Mountain and Virginia Hendon of Graysville; her two brothers, David Harvey of Sale Creek Mountain and Jerry (Lisa) Harvey of Stone Mountain, GA; her ten grandchildren; her 8 great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Kathlene will be on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her son, Danny Hendon, and her nephew, Robbie Hendon, officiating. She will be laid to rest in Hendon Cemetery next to her husband.
