Judith Ann Engel, age 80 of Dayton died Wednesday evening, March 21, 2012 in a Chattanooga hospital. Judy was born in Holland, MI on February 24, 1932 the daughter of the late Carl and Della (Overway) Visscher.
She was a graduate of Holland High School and had worked with human resources in Monroe, MI for LA-Z-BOY from 1968 until 1981. She had been a resident of Dayton for the past 31 years and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Cleveland, TN.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ted Engel, Sr., her two daughters, Ann Marie (Bobby) Perry and Mary (Bill) Knierim and her son, Ted (Marilyn) Engel, Jr. all of Dayton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bill (Chasity) Knierim, Jr., Bobby Basile, Stefanie McAllister, Ted (Ashley) Engel, III, Eric (Tracy) Roberts, Ted (Lindsey) Roberts, Jeremiah Perry and Tim Perry, eight great-grandchildren and nine brothers and sisters, Carla Wierda, Bev Bolen, Carl Visscher, Henry Visscher, Gert Glegola, Sharon Sens, Joan Cobb, Linda Visscher and Mike Visscher.
Funeral services for Judy will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel with her pastor, Rev. Robert Seaton officiating. She will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton followed by a white dove release.
