Josephine "Girlie" Smith

Josephine “Girlie” Smith, age 83, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Rhea Medical Center. She was born June 7, 1929 in Dayton to the late Floyd and Martha (Walker) Burwick. She was also preceded in death by her husband Hugh W. Smith.
A resident of Dayton most of her life, she retired from the Oster Corp where she worked on the assembly line.
She is survived by her son Charles (fiancé’ Faith) Martin of Dayton, grandson Chris (Aom) Martin of Maryland, granddaughter Andrea Soloman of Dayton, great-grandson Joey Soloman of Dayton, great-granddaughters Angie and Alicia Martin of Maryland, brother Donnie (Beulah) Burwick of Cincinnati and half-brothers Floyd Burwick of North Carolina and Johnny Burwick and Ike Burwick, both of Dayton.
Funeral services for Josephine will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Hobbs officiating. She will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
