John James Sunta Jr. age 80 of Evensville died Wednesday June 14, 2006 in Rhea County Nursing Home. He was born in Chicago. IL. August 2, 1925 the son of the late John Sunta Sr. and Emily (Palka) Sunta. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty (Gill) Sunta.
John served his country with the US Army during the European Theatre and Battle of the Bulge, Member of VFW National Ex Combat Infantry. He retired from the Chicago Post Office after 37 years as a letter carrier and was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers for over 50 years. John was formerly of Orland Park, IL. moved to Evensville, TN. in 1990 where he was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Dayton, TN. and St. Michaels in Orland Park, IL. He was a member of English Setter Association of America, Dayton Reading Club and Dayton Garden Club.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Don) Young of Dayton, Jeanne (David) Sjo of Orlando Park, IL, Mary (Robert) Hancock of New Lenox, IL. and Margaret (Tadd) Johnson of Peoria, IL., his sons, John J. (Maria) Sunta III of Palos Heights, IL., Robert (Marilyn) Sunta of Shawnee, KS. And James (Kay) Sunta of Bogart, Ga., nine grandchildren and his sister, Rita Molloy.
Services for John will be held Tuesday June 20, 2006 at St. Michaels in Orland Park, IL. Burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL.
