John William “Bill” Thomas, age 74, of Sale Creek went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, April 3, 2013. He was born January 28, 1939 in Dayton to the late Frank and Maude (Iles) Thomas.
A resident of Sale Creek all of his life, he was co-owner of TnT Construction Company. Bill loved farming and raising cattle and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty (Swallows) Thomas, daughter, Billie Annette (Chris) Sneed of Dayton, his son, David Lynn “Cobb” (Connie) Thomas of Sale Creek, his sister, Nora L. Roderick of Sale Creek, five grandchildren, Wesley Webb, Kristian Sneed, Jonathan Sneed, Adam (Marie) Gaither, Justin Thomas, one great-grandson, Spencer Gaither, several nieces and nephews and his special friends Olen and Pat Wright.
Funeral services for Bill will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Emory Layne, Rev. David Cunningham and Rev. Ron Moreland officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Vernon Church Cemetery followed by a white dove release.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Webb, Adam Gaither, Justin Thomas, Kenny Wright, Glen Francisco, Michael Webb, Jim Jordan, Melvin Holland and Olen Wright.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their services. Special thanks to his niece, Marcia Smith and to his nephew, Glen Francisco as caregivers and to the family and friends for their prayers and support.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church building fund.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
