Captain John Douglas “JD” Anderson, US Air Force, retired, age 66 of Dayton, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, February 04, 2014 in Dayton. He was born November 4, 1947 in Champaign, IL to Dr. and Mrs. John C. Anderson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriet (VanOrder) Anderson.
A resident of Dayton most of his life, JD graduated from Rhea Central High School and went on to graduate from Bryan College in 1969 where he received his B.A. He received his Masters degree in Education from Chapman University and his Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1996. JD retired as a Captain with the US Air Force. He served his country as an Electronics Warfare Officer/Navigator on the B52 bomber, F105 and F4G Phantom fighter jets during the Vietnam War. JD was a member of the American Legion Post 100. He was a member of Grace Bible Church and former Sunday School teacher.
JD is survived by his father, Dr. John C. Anderson of Dayton; his brother, Rev. Jim (Priscilla) Anderson of Murfreesboro and Dayton; his sister, Anita (Rev. Daniel) McMillan of Enterprise, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for JD will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church with Dr. Doug Russell, Rev. David Hobbs, his brother, Rev. Jim Anderson, and his brother-in-law, Rev. Dan McMillan officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Friday at 12:00 noon in Rhea Memory Gardens.
