John V. Goins age 73 of Dayton died Tuesday May 1, 2007 in his home. He was born in Rhea County on May 20, 1933 the son of the late Bass and Mildred Louise (Patton) Goins. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Cathy (Goins) Olinger.
John was a life long resident of Dayton and served his country with the
US Army during the Korean War. John was a truck driver and a member of the teamsters.He was also a bail bond agent for Huckabee Bonding for 18 years. John loved fishing and fox hunting and was a member of the Sale Creek Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Shirley (Thompson) Goins, his sons, Johnny Goins, Michael Goins and Tim Goins, his daughters, Debbie Welch and Gaynelle Roddy all of Dayton, twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, sisters, Christine Chestnut of Dayton, Shirley Jewell of Spring City, Barbara Sullivan of Graysville, Brenda Smith of Graysville and Connie Day of Dayton, his brothers, Bud Goins of Sale Creek, Ted Goins of GA, Kenneth Goins of Decatur, Malcolm Goins and Jay Goins of Dayton and DeWayne Goins of Bakewell.
Funeral services for John will be held Friday at 2pm in the Sale Creek Church of God followed by a white dove release. Bishop Kenneth Bolton will be officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Spivey Cemetery in Dayton.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Thursday 4-8pm.
