John "Richard" Beene

John “Richard” Beene, age 83 of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on July 4, 2026, at his home at StoryPoint Hixson South. He was born in Murray, Kentucky, on November 3, 1942, the son of the late John William and Lillian Lucille (McBroom) Beene. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mark Beene, and his sister, Sharon Wilkey, both of Dayton.

Richard grew up in Graysville, graduated from Rhea Central High School, and proudly served his country for four years in the US Air Force in the Philippines and England. He retired as a welder at Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time with his family, and trimming rose bushes. He was of the Christian faith.

Richard is survived by his son, Tim (Marsha) Beene of Soddy-Daisy; his granddaughter, Jenn (Kyle) Horne of Soddy-Daisy; his great-grandson, Daxton Workman of Soddy-Daisy; his sister, Johnnie (Tracy) Long of the Brayton community; and other loved ones.

Richard will be remembered for his kindness, humor, faith, work ethic, and love of family.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Common Spirit Memorial Hospital, Dr. Ann Rybolt, the Chattanooga Heart Institute, and the staff at StoryPoint Hixson South for their love and support.

A graveside funeral service with military honors for Richard will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Woychuk officiating.
