Jo Deane Downing

Jo Deane Downing, age 81 of Dayton Mountain, passed away at Parkridge Medical Center on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on June 10, 1944, the daughter of the late William Howard Thompson and Henrietta (Mitchell) Thompson.

Jo called Colorado home before relocating to Dayton in 2018. A devoted homemaker and high school graduate, she had a deep love for music — expressed through her violin playing and her fondness for The Sound of Music. She attended First Baptist Church of Dayton.

Jo Deane was preceded in death by: her father, William Howard Thompson; her mother, Henrietta Mitchell Thompson; and her sister, Carol Kay (Thompson) McLemore. She is survived by: her loving husband of 61 years, Timothy Trenton Downing of Dayton (originally of Shawnee, OK; her brother Dale Ray Thompson of Aledo, TX (originally of Oklahoma City); her son, Tracy James Downing of Mt. Juliet, TN (originally from Denton, TX) and his wife, Cheryl Lynn Downing, and their son Liam James Downing (Jo Deane’s one and only favorite grandson); and her son, Travis Jay Downing of White Rock, NM (also originally of Denton, TX) and his wife Lise.

There will be no local services for Jo. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. (CST).

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee, and Memorial Park Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
