June 30, 1931 — January 15, 2014

Jimmy Lee Stinnett age 82 of Dayton died Wednesday evening January 15, 2014 in Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. Jimmy was born in Dayton on June 30, 1931 the son of the late Andrew and Sarah (Proffitt) Stinnett and also was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Rose (Elder) Stinnett.
Jimmy lived all of his life in Dayton and retired from La-Z-Boy after 25 years. He was a lifelong member of the Garrison Baptist Church where he was a former song director, Sunday school teacher and youth worker.
He is survived by his wife Margaret (Morgan) Hickman Stinnett of Dayton, his four sons, Jerry “Butch” (Margaret) Stinnett of Brayton Mountain, Eddie Dean Stinnett of Dayton, Danny Ray (Shelia) Stinnett of Bledsoe County, and Jason Eric (Cindy) Stinnett of Spring City; his daughter, Rebecca Ann (Roger) Gunter of Evensville, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters. He is also survived his four step-children, Thomas (Debbie) Hickman of Nashville, Beverly Thomas of Evensville, Paula (Johnny) Goss of Evensville and Teresa Hickman of Spring City, six step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jimmy will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Breeden and Dr. Barry Purser officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his first wife Bertha in Rhea Memory Gardens.
