Rev. Jessie Junior Roysdon, age 83, of Bakewell, died Thursday evening, October 25, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 19, 1935 in Harriman. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents John Calvin and Hazel Annamae (Hinds) Roysdon; his siblings, Betty Grant, Ellen Durham, Willard Roysdon, Wilma Rashley, Gene Roysdon, Bobby Roysdon, Preston Roysdon, Franklin Roysdon and granddaughter Amanda Roysdon.
Jessie lived in Bakewell for the past 50 years. He retired in 2001 from Astec Industries as a Fitter-Welder and was a Church of God Minister for 55 years. Jessie enjoyed woodwork, yard work, reading the word of God, word search and puzzles. He was a member of the Unity Gospel Tabernacle Church in Graysville.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Marie (Tinch) Roysdon; son, James Randall (Patricia) Roysdon of Sale Creek; daughters, Teresa Ann (Doug) Graham and Debra (Jim “JJ”) Johnson both of Dayton; his grandchildren, James Roysdon, Douglas (Candice) Graham, Tiffany (Tommy) Bruce, Lance (Jaclyn) Watson, Caleb (Lyndsey) Johnson, and Josh Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Jessie will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with his grandson, Rev. Douglas Graham officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton.
