Jerry Lee Montgomery, age 78 of Dayton, passed away Thursday morning, November 12, 2020 at his home in Dayton. Jerry was born on March 2, 1942 in Dayton, the son of the late Willis B. Montgomery and Nora (Williams) Montgomery. Jerry was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Caitlyn Blaylock, his brothers, Murl Montgomery, Faris Montgomery, Peck Montgomery, John Montgomery, Ross Montgomery and Billy Montgomery, and his sisters Mattie Montgomery and Mickey Davis.
Jerry lived all of his life in Dayton where he retired as a coal mine heavy equipment operator. He loved the UT Vols, the Atlanta Braves and loved taking care of his grandchildren. He was the “World’s Best Grandpa”.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alberta (Clark) Montgomery of Dayton; his daughter, Tammy (Don) Blaylock of Dayton; son, Rick (Janet) Montgomery of Sale Creek; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Killingsworth of Ooltewah, Brandi (Eric) Goodwin of Dayton, Leigh (Mike) Nixon of Dayton and T.J. Hill of Sale Creek; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen (Bill) Hicks of Dayton, Minnie (Larry) Hill of Trinity, NC and Charlene (Mike) Calhoun of High Point, NC.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held Saturday afternoon, November 14, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bobby Schaefer officiating. He will be laid in the Cove / Burchard Cemetery in Dayton.
Social distancing is strongly encouraged and MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED.
