Obituary

James “Eddie” Yearwood, age 66 of Evensville, passed away at Rhea Medical Center on Sunday, August 2, 2026. He was born in Graysville on September 9, 1959, the son of the late John R. Yearwood and Dorothy (Creasman) Yearwood, who survives him. He was also preceded in death by his son, Charles Steve Montgomery, in 2019 and his infant brother.

Eddie lived most of his life in Rhea County, where he spent 38 years working for the City of Dayton Electric Department. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a devoted member of the Church of God faith. To his grandson John, he was affectionately known as "WAP."

In addition to his mother, Dorothy Yearwood of Graysville, Eddie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia “Pat” (Hensley) Yearwood of Evensville; his son, John Agnew Montgomery of Decatur; his grandchildren, John Austin Montgomery of Evensville, Dillon Montgomery and Jasmine Montgomery, both of Dayton; his brothers, John (Edna) Yearwood of Evensville and Charles (Amanda) Yearwood of Dayton; his sisters, JoAnn Yearwood of Graysville, Wanda (Dwayne) Carden of Soddy-Daisy, Sissy Yearwood of Graysville, Allene (Stanley) Edmonds of Dayton, and Linda (David) Morgan of Spring City; and his special fur baby, Domino.

Funeral services for Eddie will be in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Filyaw officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton after the service.
