James Richard Walker, Sr., age 89 of Soddy-Daisy, died Wednesday November 4, 2009 at Memorial Northpark in Chattanooga. He was born August 13, 1920 in Dayton to the late Thomas H. Walker and Maudie L. (Potter) Walker. He was a long-time resident of both Rhea and Hamilton Counties.
James was a former police officer for the City of Lookout Mountain and was a heating and air conditioning repairman and installer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country with the U.S. Army in France and Germany.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth (Caraway) Walker, his second wife Tessie M. (Wedl) Walker, brothers Leland Dodd, Clyde Walker, Thomas Walker and sister Edith Walker Davis.
James is survived by his son James (Fay) Walker, Jr. of Hixson, Larry (Bonnie) Walker of Soddy Daisy and daughter Beverly (Freddie) Wilson of Dayton, TN, brother Ted (Louise) Walker of Greenville, SC, sister-in-law Wilma Walker of Dayton.
Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be Friday at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhea Memory Gardens.
