James Burton James

James Burton “J.B.” James, age 81 of Birchwood, died Wednesday December 12, 2012 at his home. He was born September 17, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late Pearson and Dell (Burton) James and was also preceded in death by his grandson Phillip James.
He was a resident of Chattanooga for many years before moving to Birchwood seven years ago. He graduated from City High School in Chattanooga and was the former owner of East Chattanooga Grocery. He retired from the Hamilton County School system as a bus driver and was also a commercial fisherman. JB was an accomplished bluegrass fiddler.
J.B. is survived by his wife of 59 years Dora “Dody” (Morrison) James of Birchwood, three sons, Edward F. (Patsy) James of Birchwood, Dennis L. (Joy) James of Harrison and J.P. (Alicia) James of Ider, AL, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for J.B. will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Billy Lowery officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his parents in the McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood.
