James John Bornhoeft III, age 80, of Spring City, died early Sunday morning, February 17, 2019 at his home in Spring City. He was born on January 17, 1939 in Chicago, IL to the late James John Jr. and Jane Elizabeth (Bates) Bornhoeft. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Jane Bornhoeft.
Jim was born and raised in Chicago, IL and lived in Knoxville for many years before moving to Spring City in 1993. Jim was a Northwestern University College graduate, Evanston, IL and served his country with the US Army. He was a self employed residential and general contractor and truck driver. Jim spent his time trying to make a difference in people’s lives and loving his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joy Ellen (Mills) Bornhoeft; his six children, James John IV (Patti) Bornhoeft of Lenoir City, Jason (Dana) Bornhoeft, Justin (Joy) Bornhoeft both of Knoxville, Jeffrey (Diane) Bornhoeft of Maryville, John (Leslie) Bornhoeft of Lenoir City and Janet (Jason) Cross of Philadelphia, TN; 12 grandchildren; his siblings, Charles (Mary) Bornhoeft, Susan (Russell) Bouch both of WI, and Laura (Bob) Kleiner of Ft. Meyers, FL.
Funeral services with military honors for Jim will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Stuart officiating. He will be laid to rest in Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plains, IL on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.

The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Wednesday after 6:00 p.m.
