Jacqueline Ann Reed

Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann (Revis) Reed, age 72, of Dayton passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, in Dayton surrounded by her family. She was born in Dayton, on February 18, 1951, the daughter of the late Robert Carlos and Ruby Lois (Rice) Revis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Larry Reed; her brother, Rodgers Revis; and her sister, Chris Revis.

Jackie lived in Old Washington most of her life. She graduated from Rhea Central High School in 1969, and retired from the U. S. Postal Service, and as a secretary at Vanderwall Funeral Home. She was a member of Dayton First Baptist.

Jackie was a radiant person with a quintessential style that consisted of colorful headbands and signature hair scarves, as well as a home filled with cherished antiques and keepsakes. She was the picture of Southern hospitality. Jackie greeted everyone with a hug and a smile. She loved to spend her days with family, baking and cooking, sitting on her front porch birdwatching, listening to the windchimes, reading, or working the daily crossword puzzle.

Jackie encouraged her daughters and grandchildren to celebrate life, to follow their passions, and to “take the trip.” Wednesdays were for thrifting while Sundays were meant for family lunch gatherings where delicious family recipes were enjoyed. The many hours spent reading her treasured cookbooks shined through in the countless meals she shared. Her table was always open. Jokingly, many would say Jackie would make enough food to feed “Coxey’s Army”.

Jackie is survived by her two daughters, Jill (Jeff) Davis of Dayton, and Joy (Orin) Brown of Signal Mountain, and their father, Bill Marsh of Dayton; her two step-daughters, Destiny Absher of Murfreesboro, and Caitlyn (David) West of Huntsville, AL; her five grandchildren, Faith (Daniel) Dotson, Shelby Davis, Ethan Davis, Blaire Brown, and Aiden Absher; her three brothers, Bobby Joe Revis, Dale Revis, Mike Revis, all of Dayton; and two bonus daughters, Tami Gadd and Shannon Revis.

Funeral services for Jackie will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Danny Ruehling and Rev. Bobby Schafer officiating. Burial will be in Spence Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Jackie was an ever-present light for her family, the epitome of courage, and constant source of love and support. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is in heaven and they will reunite again one day.

Donations in memory of Jackie may be made to The Lung Cancer Research Foundation to support the research for finding a cure for small cell carcinoma.
