Ernest Paul “Jack” Gentry, age 71 of Sale Creek died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. He was born April 7, 1941 in Chattanooga to the late Erfurt Thomas and Ada Illa (Hodge) Gentry. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Robert Gentry, Arnold Gentry, Junior Gentry, Harmon Gentry and Ed Gentry.
A lifelong resident of Sale Creek, he was a farmer, cattleman, school bus driver and convenience store owner. He was of the Church of God faith.
He is survived by his son Steven (Deb) Gentry of Graysville, daughter Paula (John) Gardner of Sale Creek, brother John Gentry of Sale Creek, sisters Ruth (Earlene) Barrentine of Pisgah, AL, Lola (James) Ryland of Sale Creek, Colin Gates and Imogene (Jerry) Davis both of Dayton, three grandchildren Jeff Gentry, Bray Gardner and Nicole Pendergrass and five great-grandchildren Ariana, Dylan, Lilly and Chandler Gardner and Alexis Pendergrass.
Funeral services for Jack will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p m in the funeral home chapel with John Gardner and Ben Barrentine officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his mother in the Welch-Rogers Cemetery.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
