Robert Hiram Green age 87 of Dayton died at his home Saturday, September 4, 2010. He was born in Dayton on January 11, 1923 the son of the late Alexander Little Paige “Uncle Dock” Green and Attie Mattie (Barton) Green. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene (Cummings) Green and second wife, Juanita (Tallent) Green.
Hiram lived most of his life in Dayton where he owned and operated Green Construction. He was a graduate of Rhea Central High School, class of 1942. During WWII he worked on ships in Pearl Harbor with the Civil Service. He was very active with the Republican Party and also with coaching and sponsoring youth athletic organizations. He was a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his three sons, Jerry (Frances) Green, Pat Green, and Wayne (Lisa) Green all of Dayton, his daughter, Yvonne (Kevin) Beaty of Spring City, seven grandchildren, Rhonda (Geoff) Robinson, Lori (Curtis) Estes, John, Ashley, Alex, Tamara, and Jarred Green, six great-grandchildren and his sister, Mary Ella Durham of Dayton.
Funeral services for Hiram will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Ewing, Rev. Jim Purser, Rev. John Neese and Dr. Hollis Green Officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Lorene in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
The family will receive friends Tuesday after 5:00pm in Rudd Chapel at Bryan College.
