Hershel Dee Gunter, age 86, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Life Care of Rhea County. He was born in Pickett County on March 13, 1935, to the late Charlie and Lucy (Delk) Gunter.
He lived in Evensville most of his life and was an assemblyman at Suburban Manufacturing for 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his daughter, Julia Patton of Evensville; his son, Terry Gunter of Spring City; three grandchildren, Jessica (Joe) Brown of Dayton, Jason Patton of Evensville, and Leann (Cody) Smith of Dayton; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Smith, Rylee Brown, Kennedy Smith, Lincoln Smith, and Liberty Smith; brothers, Oren Gunter of Spring City and Roger Gunter of Evensville; and sisters, Sina Webb and Jean Leevey both of Spring City.
Funeral services for Dee will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Haynes officiating. He will be laid to rest at Smyrna Cemetery in Evensville.
