Helen "Nanny" Louise Vandergriff

Helen Louise Vandergriff age 93 of Dayton went to be with Jesus early Wednesday morning, August 19, 2015 at Life Care Center of Dayton. She was born in Sale Creek August 16, 1922 to the late George and Mary (Greene) Elder. She was also preceded in death by her late husbands, Cecil Doss and Claude Vandergriff, her two sons Larry Doss and Roger Doss, four sisters Floyce Thompson, Kassie Lee Hughes, Pauline Nalley, and Alberta Winters.
Helen lived in Hamilton County for most of her life where she worked at LaJane's Dress Shop and Soddy Men’s Shop in Soddy. She was a member of the Sale Creek Church of God.
She is survived by her three grandchildren Bobby (Cindy) Doss of Dayton, Teresa (Joe) Sorrow of Dayton Mountain, Tonya (Jeff) Phillips of Middle Valley, four great-grandchildren Holden Doss of Dayton, Hailey (David) Tidwell of Dayton,Nicholas Thomas of Middle Valley, Samantha Thomas of Middle Valley, great- great-grandchildren Macy Welch of Dayton, Mason Thomas of Middle Valley and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Helen will be held Friday at 12:00p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Roger Rothwell officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rhea Memory Gardens.
