Hazel Ruth Shell, age 79 of Graysville, died Saturday November 8, 2014 at Memorial North Park. She was born December 25, 1934 in Big Stone Gap, VA to the late Lloyd and Margaret (Beck) Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Jackson Lee Shell.
Hazel was a long time resident of Red Bank moving to Graysville seven years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star and an advocate of Helping Hands with the Shriners. She served her country in the United States Marine Corp and was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy Daisy. She traveled all over the world to include many countries across three continents.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bervin J. Shell of Graysville, two sons David (Pornpan) Shell of Tacoma, WA, Randall (Lisa) Shell of Austin,TX, four daughters , Lavonna (Gary) Owen of Ft.Lauderdale,FL, Linda (Greg) Black of Leesburg,VA, Kathleen (Gerald) Hodge of Athens, Tammara (Jim) Melson of Graysville, two brothers Robert (Nancy) Anderson of Utica,MI and Roger (Christine) Anderson of Roseville,MI , nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services for Hazel will be held Friday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Monsignor Al Humbrecht officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Granny Walker Cemetery on Mowbray Mountain.
