Harold Eugene Haid, age 81 of Dayton, passed away on July 30, 2025 at Bradley Medical Center in Cleveland. He was born in Charleston, WV, on February 18, 1944, the son of the late Charles and Emma (Mounts) Haid. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Leonard Haid and Paul Haid.
A resident of Dayton for more than four decades, Harold dedicated nearly three decades of his life to military service with the U.S. Marine Corps. His distinguished career saw him rise to the rank of First Sergeant while serving his country with honor, including a deployment to Vietnam. His military service took him across the globe. Following his military retirement, Harold transitioned to civilian life and built a second career at Polyloom, where he worked until his retirement. In his personal time, he found great satisfaction in woodworking, a craft that allowed him to create with his hands and express his creativity.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sabrina Haid of Dayton; his five children, Charles (Hannah) Haid of Rockwood, Mason (Alyssa) Haid of Norfolk, Virginia, Caleb (Ashley) Haid of Dayton, Kim (Steve) O’Grady of New Hampshire and Courtney (David) Herrell of Dayton; his five grandchildren, Bradley Haid, Chase Haid, Cheyenne Haid, Canaan Haid and Ezra Haid; his brother, Bill Haid of Charleston, West Virginia , and his sister, Donna Jarrell of Poca, West Virginia.
Funeral services for Harold will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Woychuk officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the U. S. Marine Corps on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
