Gordon And Virginia Nelson

Gordon Stillman Nelson, age 94, died August 26, 2013, three days following the death of his wife, Virginia Knight Nelson, age 92 who died on August 23, 2013; both passing away in Maryville. Gordon was born on February 10, 1919 in Weirsdale, FL to the late Stillman Gordon and Elizabeth Ann (Johnston) Nelson. Virginia was born on October 28, 1920 in Rhea County to the late Carlos Thomas and Hazel (Tallent) Knight.
Gordon received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and was a certified public accountant for TVA. Virginia was born and raised in Rhea County and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dayton. She lived most of her life in the Knoxville/Maryville area where she was employed by TVA and the TVA Credit Union. Having a degree in Journalism, Virginia published four books on genealogy. They were both members of the First Baptist Church in Knoxville.
Gordon and Virginia were married for 62 years and are survived by many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Gordon and Virginia will be held Friday at 12:00 noon with Rev. Milton Knox officiating. They will be laid to rest together, side by side in Rhea Memory Gardens.
