Gladys Marie Jordan age 83 of Dayton died Thursday January 5, 2006 in Rhea County Nursing Home. She was born June 7, 1922 in Rhea County the daughter of the late Sam David and Ethel Lee (Felts) Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her husband Daniel Willie Jordan, sisters, Beulah Baldwin, Pauline Jordan, brothers, Hobert, James and T. F. Hughes.
Gladys lived in Dayton most of her life where she retired from La Z Boy as housekeeper.
She was a member of Graysville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her five daughters, Christine Calbaugh of Dayton, Alene Bishop and Carolyn Ward both of Graysville, Linda Reed of Bakewell and Joann Staggs of Spring City, one son, Richard “Ricky” Jordan of Graysville, fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, Kenneth, Clarence and Wendell Hughes all of Dayton, four sisters, Mary Harris, Jean Eply, Wilma Cunningham and Wanda Adams all of Dayton.
Funeral services for Gladys will be held Sunday at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with Minister Clint Etherton officiating. Burial will be in Summer City Cemetery.
The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral home in Dayton where they will receive friends Saturday 6-9pm.
