Gertie Sluss Rains

Gertie Sluss Rains, age 82 of Sale Creek ,went to be home with her Savior Monday afternoon, February 23, 2015 in Chattanooga. She was born May 20, 1932 in Jenkinjones, WV to the late Robert E. Lee and Della Mae (Walk) Sluss.
A resident of Sale Creek most of her life, she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and bird watching. She was a member of the Sale Creek Church of God.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years Fred “Beecher” Rains of Sale Creek, her daughter Norma Starr (James “Tommy”) Morrow of Ringgold, GA, two grandchildren Shawn (Kati) Alexander of Las Vegas, Justin (Tiffany) Alexander of Soddy Daisy, two great-granddaughters Hailey “Angel” Alexander and Hadley Alexander, both of Soddy Daisy, her extended family Neal and Rhona Alexander of Soddy Daisy, grandsons Rick (Sammie) Taylor of Soddy Daisy and Ben (Ashley) Taylor of Memphis, three great-granddaughters, Mya, Gwyenth and Hanna Taylor and one great-grandson Grayson Taylor, and one sister Eugenia Miller of Hixson.
Funeral services for Gertie will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ben Taylor officiating. She will be laid to rest in Welch Rogers Cemetery.
