Gerald "Garland" Miles

Gerald “Garland” Miles, age 84 of Graysville, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 18, 2026. He was born in Dayton, Tennessee, on May 22, 1942, the son of the late Opp and Ines (Brown) Miles. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Miles and his sister, Barbara Harvey.

Garland spent his entire life in Graysville and worked as a painter for Astec Industries. In the early 1970s he served as a volunteer firefighter, and he later gave back to his community as a City of Graysville Commissioner. Family meant everything to him, and he treasured time with them on road trips to the Smoky Mountains, camping trips, fishing, and any chance to be outdoors. A devoted Tennessee Vols fan, he was also a faithful member of the Graysville Church of God.

Garland is survived by his sons, Gary (Miki) Miles of Sale Creek and Greg (Shannon) Miles and Mike (Susan) Miles, all of Graysville; his grandchildren, Hayden (Julie) Miles, Colton (Lindsey) Miles, and Mallory (Hunter Fowler) Miles; and his brother and sister, Denny Miles and Sharon Blackstone, both of Graysville.

Funeral services for Garland will be in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 12:00 noon with Pastor Michael Shrum officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens after the service.
