Georgia Mae Pankey age 78 of Dayton passed Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Erlanger Hospital. Georgia Mae, as she was affectionately known, was born December 15, 1937 in Dayton to the late LaTnabell (Rogers) and Clifford Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband James Herman Pankey and her grandson Dustin Garmany.
She lived in Dayton all of her life and was a graduate of Carver High School in Dayton. Georgia Mae worked both at Dayton City School and Rhea Floral & Gift Shoppe for numerous years. She enjoyed puzzle books and was a collector of everything. Georgia Mae was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dayton, TN.
She is survived by her daughter Vanity (Adell) White and her sons Jamie (Jennifer) Pankey, James (Crystal) Garmany, all of Dayton, TN, Phillip (Janice) Pankey of Nashville, TN and Steven (Keesha) Johnson of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren: Anthony Dalton, Michelle Dalton, Jadden Pankey, Chasity Swafford, Alexandria Pankey, Jacob Ray, Denisha Swafford, Justin Swafford, Kevin Sharp and Elijah Pankey and a host of great-grandchildren and nieces & nephews.
Funeral services for Georgia Mae will be held Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga on Thursday at ll:30 a.m.
