George Washington Stephens Jr.

George Washington Stephens, Jr., age 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday afternoon, December 17, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born April 7, 1935 in Chattanooga to the late George and Gladys (Brown) Stephens. He was also preceded in death by his son Kenny Stephens, sisters Dorothy Moore, Georgia “Buddie” Eldridge, Hallie White and Stella Goza.
A resident of Grandview for the past 40 years, George was a retired residential building contractor.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Judy (Shetter) Stephens of Grandview, son Roger Stephens of Chattanooga, daughters Donna (David) Snyder of Dayton, Danna (Mark) Morrell of Knoxville and Sonja Stephens of Chattanooga, sisters Rubye Sparks of Chattanooga and Minnie Dickerson of Seminole, FL, nine grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for George will be Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p m in the funeral home chapel with his son-in-law, Mr. David Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
