George Edward DuVall, Sr. was welcomed into the gates of Heaven late Monday evening, May 30th, 2022 at Parkwest Hospital. Some knew him as George, a limited few knew him as Dad, but many knew him as Poppy; after all that was his favorite title. Poppy loved all his grandkids and his most favorite thing was spending time with them, especially fishing or building bonfires.
He was a kind and patient man with a gentle heart who loved his family fiercely. His love for his wife of 37 years was a true testimony. He was a man of the Lord and led his family well. Poppy was a jokester, always playing jokes and sitting back to watch them unfold or planning his next prank. He loved bluegrass music and I can only imagine the Heavenly "Pickin" that was awaiting his arrival.
Poppy was preceded in death by his wife Patti DuVall, his son George "Eddie" DuVall, Jr. and brother Jon DuVall. He is survived by his brother Dean and wife Angie DuVall; his children and spouses, Amber and Jonathan Hamilton, Renea and Lee Thomas, Donny and Jane McKinney, Ryon and Jen McKinney and Rebekah and Mckinley Stinnett; his 17 grandchildren; first great-granddaughter; niece Jennifer and Andy Massey-DuVall; and nephew David DuVall, and their children.
A celebration of life will be held with funny story and joke telling Sunday June 12th at 4 P.M. at Poppy's home church, First Church of Dayton. The memorial will begin at 5 P.M. George and his beloved Patti's ashes will be combined in a private ceremony at a later time.
