General "Shorty" Smith

General Gleason Smith, age 57 of Graysville, died Monday October 24, 2011 at his home. He was born September 18, 1954 in Dayton to the late Lonnie and Thelma (Perry) Smith. He was also preceded in death by brothers Richard Smith and Vincent Smith.
Shorty lived all his life in Dayton. He was an avid NASCAR and UT football fan. He realized a long-time dream of attending a NASCAR race when friends took him to Talladega. He also enjoyed playing pool. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his brothers Lonnie (Mary Francis) Smith, Jr. and Jackie Smith, both of Graysville, Michael (Sherrie) Smith, David Smith, Jessie Smith and James (Lisa) Smith all of Dayton and sisters Carolyn Aikman and Violet “Snoopy” (James) Grogan both of Dayton.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 pm at Pinecrest Cemetery in Dayton.
