Gene Harlow Chadwick, age 88 of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Soddy-Daisy Health Care Center in Soddy-Daisy. He was born on December 28, 1935, in Dayton, the son of the late Carl Ray Chadwick and Goldie Jane (Brady) Chadwick. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Fox; and his brother, Morris Chadwick.
Gene was a long-time resident of Dayton except when he lived in Battle Creek, MI, from 1943 until 1977. He was a graduate of Rhea Central High School. He was the owner operator of Tennessee Cable Company, installing underground cables. Gene was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church.
Gene is survived by his wife of 51 years, Clara Jane (Mason) Chadwick of Dayton; his three daughters, Caryl (Robert) Shanks of Richmond, VA, Barbara (John) Henderson of Battle Creek, MI, and Jean (Lewis) Burgess of Salisbury, NC; his three sons, William Fox of Salisbury, NC, Rodney Chadwick of Richmond, VA, and Mark (Melissa) Chadwick of Keysville, VA; and his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gene will be in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Layne Pennington officiating. He will be laid to rest in Faith Gardens at Buttram Cemetery after the service.
