Gary Alvin Dunn

Gary Alvin “Pewter” Dunn, age 81 of Evensville, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Rhea County on April 1, 1942, the son of Hillus and Edith (Pelfrey) Dunn. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Scott Dunn, and his two brothers, Gene Dunn and Don Dunn.

Alvin lived in Rhea County all his life and was a graduate of Rhea Central High School Class of 1959. He retired from the State of Tennessee Highway Department and was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and farmer.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda (Bridwell) Dunn of Evensville; his daughter, Lori (Brian) Derlak of Dayton; his grandson, David Derlak of Dayton; his brother, Rev. Von (Carolyn) Dunn of Evensville Mountain; and his two sisters, Wanda McClure of Evensville Mountain and Kathy (Jack) Keefer of Hendersonville, NC.

Funeral services for Alvin will be on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Danny Ruehling and Rev. Von Dunn officiating. He will be laid to rest in Pierce Cemetery in Evensville after the service.
