Gail Underwood

January 20, 1953 — May 10, 2009

Gail Sneed Underwood, age 56 of Dayton passed away at her home on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2009. Gail was born in Rhea County on January 20, 1953 the daughter of the late Neal and Lillie Bell (Henderson) Sneed. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Underwood, sisters, Aline Sneed and Ruby Suttles and her brothers, Eddie Sneed, Joe Sneed, and Lee Sneed.

Gail lived most of her life in Rhea County and graduated from the Rhea County High School, class of 1971. She was a member of the Ekklesia Bible Tabernacle. She enjoyed boating, fishing, loving life and especially being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly (Jeff) Ashburn of Dayton, Marquita (Ken) Johnson of Madison, five grandchildren, Garrett Morris, Raven Ashburn, Curtis Ashburn and Riley Ashburn, all of Dayton and Carson Johnson of Madison. Gail is also survived by her two brothers, Leon (Linda) Sneed and Larry (Sue Ann) Sneed both of Dayton, seven sisters, Wanda (H.D.) Dillard, Rosie (Robert) Bishop, Charlene Snyder, Patsy Dillard and Glenda McFarland all of Dayton, Margie DesJardins of MI, and Julie Greenhalgh of MA.

Funeral services for Gail will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Thomas Wilson, Jr. officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00am in the Faith Garden of Buttram Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Wilkey officiating

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Tuesday after 4:00pm.
