Gail Delores Gray, age 81 of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton. She was born in Asheville, NC, on July 17, 1940, the daughter of the late Gaither and Pauline (Israel) Banks. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Banks, J. G. Banks, and Larry Banks and her sisters, Ida Mae Pate, Ava Lee Spangler, Wanda Edwards, and Shirley Gosnell.
She lived in Asheville, NC, until 1978 when she moved to Dayton. She was a homemaker and a member and past president of the Circle of Friends Club. She and her husband were members of Garrison Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Gray of Dayton; her three sons, Stefon (Alice) Gray of Dayton, Stacey (Lisa) Gray of Clarksville, and Justin Gray of Dayton; seven grandchildren, Erin (Chris) Smith of Soddy, Tanya (Brandon) Vess of Ringgold, GA, Philip (Kristen) Gray of Ft. Benning, GA, Ashley Gray of Clarksville, Cameron Gray of Chattanooga, Samantha Gray of Tampa, FL, and Madison Gray of Dayton; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Gail will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Breeden officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
