Fred “Beecher” Rains, age 88 of Sale Creek passed away Saturday morning October 24, 2015 at Spring City Health Care. He was born October 27, 1926 in Hamilton County to the late Earl and Gladys Rains. He was also preceded in death by his wife Gertie (Sluss) Rains.
A lifelong resident of Sale Creek, Beecher retired from Koehring Southern after forty years and also retired from Astec. He loved to fish and was a member of the Sale Creek Church of God.
He is survived by his daughter Starr (Tommy) Morrow of Ringgold, GA, two grandsons Justin (Tiffany) Alexander of Soddy Daisy and Shawn Alexander of Las Vegas, NV, two great-granddaughters Hailey Alexander and Hadley Alexander of Soddy Daisy, a great-grandson on the way. He is also survived by his extended family Neal and Rhona Alexander of Soddy Daisy, grandsons Rick (Sammie) Taylor of Soddy Daisy and Ben (Ashley) Taylor of Memphis, three great-granddaughters, Mya, Gwenyth and Hannah Taylor and one great-grandson Greyson Taylor.
Funeral services for Beecher will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Welch Rogers Cemetery followed by a white dove release.
