Richard Franklin “Frank” Wilson, age 82 of Hoover, AL passed into God’s hands Thursday May 14, 2015 at his home.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was born to Roy Clifton Wilson and Grace (Harwood) Wilson on February 1, 1933 in Dayton, TN.
He grew up in Rhea County and graduated from Rhea County High School where he was a member of the basketball and football teams. After graduating, he joined the Air Force where he served as Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. Upon returning from duty he went to work for Rhea Investment Company and worked several years in the finance business before retiring from Associates Financial Services. He was member of Dayton Lodge #512, F. & A.M. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, traveling and spending time with his wife at their favorite place in the Tennessee Mountains. He will be remembered, loved and missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by five children, Rick (Debbie) Wilson of Spring City, TN, Melanie (Conrad) Parker of Hoover, AL, Greg (Kristy) Wilson of Duluth, GA, Jennifer (Jimmy) Whatley of Hoover, AL and Dawn (Jim) Rowell of Hoover, AL, ten grandchildren Shannon (Brad) Hamilton, Cole Wilson, Carlie Wilson, Dusty (Heather) Falls, Kara (Brad) Brackett, Madison Wilson, Kelsey Wilson, Jamie Rowell, Will Rowell and Matthew Whatley and six great-grandchildren Reese Hamilton, Ramsey Hamilton, Gracie Falls, Easton Falls, Mason Brackett and Caleb Jones, one sister Betty (Wilson) Carothers, one half-sister Ellen (Corky) Treadway and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death in April 2015 by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jean (Travis) Wilson, his parents and brother-in-law Jack Carothers.

Funeral services for Frank will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at The Family Church of God in Dayton. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Falls, Matthew Whatley, Will Rowell, Cole Wilson, Brad Brackett and Brad Hamilton.
The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton.
