Floyd “Buddy” Colbaugh, age 89, of Dayton, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday evening, November 14, 2012 at Renaissance Terrace in Harriman. He was born November 8, 1926 in Rhea County to the late Floyd “Coon” and Nellie (Roddy) Colbaugh. He was also preceded in death by his son John “Buster” Colbaugh, and sisters Aileen Paul, Juanita Defriese, Bonnie Haun, Anna Ruth Burnette, Rowena Fisher, Frances Dillard, Helen Hall, Imogene Dodd, Wilma Tate and Shirley Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret (Lester) Colbaugh of Dayton, daughters Ava Marie (Ronnie) McAbee of Harriman and Sandra (Greg) Watson of Pikeville, sisters Jessie Roberts of Hixson, Reba Jo Kibble of Cleveland and Alma Sue Schrimpshire of Dayton, daughter-in-law Gloria (Morgan) Colbaugh of Lawrenceville, GA, eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Buddy served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving several medals, including three Bronze Stars. He retired from Suburban Manufacturing Company in Dayton and was a member of the Family Church of God.
Funeral services with military honors will be Saturday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Darryl Smith and Rev. Jewel Travis officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
