Ethel C. Hatcher, age 88 of the Wolf Creek area of Spring City, passed away at her home early Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was born in Glory, GA, on October 21, 1933, the daughter of the late Lester “Jake” and Theresa Corbitt. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ben Corbitt; her brother and his wife, Johnny L. Corbitt and Stella Price Corbitt; and her two sisters, Bea McDonald Blue and Jean Perkins.
Ethel moved from Georgia and had been a Spring City native since 1973. She was employed as a waitress and server for 37 ½ years with Cracker Barrel in Harriman when she retired at age 85. She was a member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Shannon) Corbitt of Decatur; her two daughters, Robyn (Jody) McDonald of Sale Creek and Lori (Anthony) Loden of Spring City; her ten grandchildren, Lynette (Ross) Irwin, Stephanie Sherrill (Tim Pritchett), Johnna (Toby) Brogden, Brandon (Tabitha) Corbitt, Timmy (Racheal) Loden, Trevor (Courtney) Sharp, David (Jessica) Loden, Breanna (Jonathon) Schalk, Joseph McDonald, and Corbyn McDonald; and her 12 great-grandchildren, Arian (Justin) Kennedy, Madison and Trent Edwards and Henley Sherrill, Asher and Adalyn Brogden, Gunner and Sam Corbitt, Riley and Emma Loden, Kamden Sharp and Oaklynn Loden.
She is also survived by her aunt, Martha (Glenn) Chancey of Willacoochee, GA; her sister, Thada Graham of Pearson, GA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her special friends, Susie King, Phyllis Loden, George and Dell Garrison, and George Treadway; and many close friends, neighbors, and co-workers she loved as family.
Funeral services for Ethel will be held at Wolf Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. She will be laid to rest at Standifer Cemetery in Sale Creek with Rev. Toby Brogden officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
